Catch and Release Format
The concept of ‘catch and release’ is not new, but what we want to ensure is that there is no need to kill unwanted fish just for the sake of a prize. To make this possible we are using a unique card system to ensure that fish caught and measured were taken in the allotted festival time scale (noon on Friday 6th to noon on Sunday 8th (dates still to be confirmed!). You will be provided with full details of this when signing in.
If entering the bass section you will need a suitable tape or hard measuring rule with numbers large enough for easy length identification in photos. With fish being returned, the bass section is run on fish length. See the ‘Measuring Fish’ page for full details on how we expect fish to be treated and measured.
Entrants found trying to bend or abuse the rules set will be found out and disqualified. All lure fishing retailers and competition organisers will also be notified and names will be provided.
While we have nothing against entrants taking fish they catch for the table (after measuring and photographing), we do encourage sensible limits it terms of both size (minimum and maximum) and quantities. We are conservation minded and do promote the release and respect for all fish landed.
